10 Kid-Friendly Crockpot Meals for Busy Days

Crockpot meals are one of my ultimate favorite hacks for getting a kid-approved family dinner on the table! I can get everything prepped earlier in the day, get on with everything else that needs doing, and by dinnertime most of the work is already done and we’re good to go.

These right here are the crockpot dinners I come back to when I want one meal the whole family can sit down and enjoy together. Some are classic comfort foods, some let everyone build their own plate, and all of them are easy enough for busy weeknights.

You’ll find plenty of family favourites, including:

  • Build-your-own dinners like fajitas and ramen bowls (great so fussy eaters can choose a bit of what they like without any pressure)
  • Comfort food classics like spaghetti and creamy chicken noodle soup
  • Fun weekend meals that kids get excited about
  • Simple recipes made with everyday ingredients
  • Slow cooker dinners that help keep everyone eating the same meal (because trust me, I know how exhausting it is to make 3 different meals every evening just so everyone will actually eat something!)

Whether you’re cooking for picky eaters or just trying to make evenings feel a little less hectic, these are the recipes I reach for again and again.

Crockpot Hamburger Helper

If you’ve got kids who love the boxed version, this homemade Hamburger Helper is always a good choice. It’s creamy, cheesy, and full of familiar flavours that even fussy eaters tend to be happy with. Best of all, the slow cooker does the work while you’re getting everyone through the after-school rush.

Crockpot Spaghetti

Spaghetti is one of those dinners that’s almost guaranteed to get a good reception around the table. The pasta cooks right in a rich, hearty meat sauce, making it an easy family meal with hardly any washing up. It’s exactly the kind of dinner I reach for when I want something I know everyone will happily eat.

Crockpot Salsa Chicken

This salsa chicken is a brilliant way to add a little spice without making it too much for kids. What I love most is how many different dinners you can make from one batch—pile it into tacos, serve it over rice, make burrito bowls, or tuck it into wraps. It’s one of those recipes you can keep coming back to on busy weeknights without anyone getting bored.

Crockpot Sausage & Potatoes

Simple enough for even the fussiest eaters. Sausage and potatoes are always a winning combination, while the garlic and Parmesan add just enough extra flavour to keep the grown-ups happy too. It’s an easy, no-fuss family meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights.

Crockpot Ravioli Lasagna

  3. Whisk together the Dr Pepper, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  4. Pour the sauce evenly over the bratwurst and onions.
  5. Cover and cook on Low for 4–5 hours, until the bratwurst is cooked through and tender.
  6. Serve in soft buns with the cooked onions and plenty of the sweet and smoky sauce spooned over the top.
