Recipe Notes & Tips

  • Baby potatoes are my favorite for this recipe because they hold their shape well during the long cooking time and don’t turn mushy.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts more smoothly and gives the best flavor.
  • If you’re around, give everything a quick stir halfway through cooking so the garlic butter seasoning gets redistributed.
  • For crispy edges, spread the cooked sausage and potatoes onto a baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes before serving.
  • Want to add some extra vegetables? Bell peppers and onions both work great.
  • Smoked sausage, kielbasa, or turkey sausage can all be used depending on what you have and what you prefer.

For an easy family dinner, serve this with crusty bread and a green side salad, if you want to add some freshness to the plate.

If you’re bringing it to a potluck, barbecue, holiday gathering, or game day party, it works really well as a hearty side dish alongside pulled pork, grilled chicken, burgers, or ribs.
