10 Healthy & High Protein Cottage Cheese Desserts
If you’d told me a few years ago that cottage cheese would become one of my favorite dessert ingredients, I wouldn’t have believed you. But once you blend or mix it, it turns smooth, creamy, and surprisingly versatile. It’s an easy way to add a little extra protein while still ending up with a dessert that actually feels like a treat. These desserts have been HUGE with readers, and I’ve been blown away by all the positive reviews they’ve had from regular readers who make them again and again.
From rich chocolate mousse and fudgy brownies to soft muffins and creamy mousse, these healthy cottage cheese desserts prove you don’t have to choose between something sweet and something a little more satisfying. Whether you’re looking for an afternoon snack, an easy make-ahead dessert, or just a new way to use up that tub of cottage cheese in the fridge, these are the recipes I keep coming back to.
Cottage Cheese Blueberry Muffins

These cottage cheese blueberry muffins continue to be one of the most popular recipes I’ve ever shared! They’re packed with protein, and I promise that you absolutely wouldn’t know that they contain cottage cheese. They’re super moist, packed with fruit, and work for an after-dinner treat as well as for a healthy breakfast, so the batch always disappears fast.
Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough

This has around 20g of protein per serving, and my favorite way to eat it is just straight out of the bowl whenever I want something sweet that isn’t going to derail my healthy eating goals. You’ll need cottage cheese (of course), protein powder, vanilla, almond flour, chocolate chips, and a pinch of salt, and it takes almost zero effort to put together.
Cottage Cheese Brownies

Nobody’s going to mistake these for ‘healthy brownies’! They’re rich, fudgy, and properly chocolatey, with the cottage cheese simply making them extra moist and giving them a little protein boost. They’re the sort of brownies you’d happily make whether the cottage cheese was in there or not.
Serves: 9
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup butter, melted and slightly cooled
- ½ cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅓ cup chocolate chips, plus extra for the top if you like
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Add the cottage cheese, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and melted butter to a blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking soda.
- Pour the blended cottage cheese mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips over the top if you’re feeling generous.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are set but the center still has a slight wobble. Don’t overbake them if you want that fudgy texture.
- Leave the brownies to cool in the pan for 25–30 minutes before slicing. They firm up as they cool, so it’s worth being patient.
Chocolate & Peanut Butter Cottage Cheese Mousse

If you’re after something sweet without turning the oven on, this is a great one to keep in the fridge. Blended cottage cheese, chocolate, peanut butter, and a scoop of protein powder turn into a thick, creamy mousse that feels more like dessert than something packed with protein. It’s an easy way to satisfy a chocolate craving.
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup frozen pineapple
- 2 tablespoons honey, maple syrup, or your favorite sweetener
- Shredded or flaked coconut, for serving
Instructions:
- Add the cottage cheese, frozen pineapple, and sweetener to a blender or food processor.
- Blend until completely smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides if needed.
- Divide the mousse between small serving glasses or bowls.
- Sprinkle over a little shredded or flaked coconut. If you have some fresh pineapple, a few chunks on top are a nice touch too.
- Serve straight away for a softer texture, or chill in the fridge for 1–2 hours if you prefer it a little firmer.
Cottage Cheese Banana Muffins

These banana muffins are soft, moist, and the kind of thing I love having on hand for busy mornings or after dinner. The ripe bananas do most of the sweetening, while the cottage cheese keeps the texture light and tender. They’re just as good with a cup of coffee as they are packed into a lunchbox or grabbed on the way out the door.

- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- ⅓ cup milk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners or lightly grease it.
- Add the cottage cheese to a blender or food processor and blend until completely smooth.
- Pour the blended cottage cheese into a large bowl. Add the coconut sugar, mashed bananas, eggs, vanilla, and coconut oil, then whisk until well combined.
- Add the flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Fold everything together until just combined.
- Stir in the milk, then gently fold in the chopped walnuts. Don’t overmix the batter.
- Divide the batter evenly between the muffin cups, filling each one almost to the top. Sprinkle over a few extra walnuts if you like.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Leave the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack. They’re especially good while they’re still slightly warm with a little butter spread on top.
