Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough

Lately, I’ve been on a bit of a mission to get more protein into my day, so of course I reached for one of my favorite ingredients – cottage cheese – and started experimenting. I wanted something sweet that was actualy satisfying and super easy to make, and this cottage cheese cookie dough was the clear winner out of so many ideas I tested out. It’s got around 20g protein per serving, and if you loved my blueberry cottage cheese muffins, this is the next one to try!

Yes, it has protein powder. Yes, it’s made with cottage cheese. But it’s not your typical boring protein snack. It’s smooth, creamy, loaded with chocolate chips, and genuinely feels like you’re eating cookie dough straight from the bowl. The fact that it happens to pack in a good amount of protein is just a very welcome bonus.

Ingredients & Overview

You’ll Need: Cottage cheese, honey, vanilla, almond flour, vanilla protein powder, sugar-free chocolate chips, and a pinch of salt. That’s it.

The Process: Blend the cottage cheese until silky smooth, stir in the remaining ingredients, then chill for 15-30 minutes until it thickens into a scoopable cookie dough. No baking, no fancy equipment – just a bowl, a blender, and a spoon.

Recipe Notes

  • Blend the cottage cheese until completely smooth. This is the secret to getting that classic cookie dough texture with no visible curds.
  • Chill before serving. Just 15-30 minutes in the fridge helps the mixture firm up and makes it taste even more like cookie dough.
  • Taste before chilling. Depending on the protein powder you use, you may want to add a little extra honey to suit your taste.
  • Choose a vanilla protein powder you enjoy. The flavor comes through, so using one you already like will give you the best results.
  • If the mixture feels too thick, stir in a teaspoon or two of milk until you reach your preferred consistency.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips last. This keeps them whole and evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
  • Keep it refrigerated. The texture is at its best when served chilled straight from the fridge.

Serving Ideas

Grab a spoon and enjoy it straight from the bowl. That’s my favorite way to eat it.

If you’re feeling a little more creative, use it as a dip for apple slices, strawberries, banana chunks, or graham crackers. It’s also delicious spooned over Greek yogurt, swirled into oatmeal, or added to a smoothie bowl for an extra protein boost.

For an easy grab-and-go snack, divide it between small jars or containers and keep them in the fridge. They’re perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or a high-protein dessert when you’re craving something sweet.

Meal Prepping Tips

This is perfect to make ahead. Divide it into individual jars or containers and keep them in the fridge, ready for whenever you need a little treat.

I also love adding it to a snack-style lunch alongside fresh fruit, crackers, nuts, or a boiled egg. It turns a simple lunch into something that feels a bit more fun, and the extra protein helps keep you full for longer.

It’s equally handy as an afternoon pick-me-up, a post-workout snack, or a little something sweet after dinner when you don’t want to reach for the biscuit tin.
