10 Italian Crockpot Recipes You’ll Make Again and Again
If there’s one type of food I know my family will never complain about, it’s Italian. Pasta, tomato sauce, plenty of cheese… it’s always a safe bet, even with my fussy eaters. The trouble is, some of those recipes can feel like a bit of a project, especially in the middle of the week.
That’s why I love making them in the slow cooker instead. You still get all those rich, comforting flavours, but without spending the evening standing over the stove. These are the recipes I keep coming back to when I want something reliable, filling, and guaranteed to disappear at my dinner table.
Crockpot Meat Sauce Rigatoni

The slow cooker is really just for the ragu here, and that’s exactly how I like it. Let the sauce do its thing all day, then stir through freshly cooked rigatoni just before serving. It makes all the difference, and the finished dish feels much more like something you’d order in a good Italian restaurant.
Crockpot Beef Gnocchi

I don’t think gnocchi gets nearly enough attention. If you always reach for pasta, this is a fun way to change things up without straying too far from those classic Italian flavours. The little potato dumplings soak up all that rich beef sauce, making it every bit as comforting as your favourite pasta dinner, just a little different.
Crockpot Ravioli Lasagna

This is the recipe I make when I want lasagna without committing to making lasagna. Frozen ravioli does all the hard work for you, while a good jar of pasta sauce keeps prep to an absolute minimum. Layer everything into the slow cooker and a few hours later you’ve got all those cheesy, comforting lasagna flavours with hardly any effort.
Crockpot Italian Meatloaf

Meatloaf doesn’t always get the credit it deserves, especially when you give it an Italian twist. Instead of the usual ketchup glaze, this version is topped with rich marinara and plenty of melted mozzarella, making it feel like something completely different. Serve it with buttery mashed potatoes or garlic bread and you’ve got a proper comfort food dinner.
Crockpot Marry Me Chicken Pasta

No, it’s not a traditional Italian recipe, but it has definitely earned its place in the Italian-American comfort food hall of fame. With tender chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, parmesan, garlic, and a rich creamy sauce, it’s easy to see why Marry Me Chicken became such a huge hit. My version includes pasta for extra family friendly, comfort food vibes!
Crockpot Chicken Cacciatore

Chicken cacciatore proves simple ingredients can make a really good dinner. The chicken slowly cooks in a rich tomato sauce with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and garlic. I love the handful of capers stirred in at the end. They add a little pop of sharpness that cuts through the rich sauce and brings the whole dish to life.

Crockpot Chicken Parmesan

This is one of those recipes that feels like you’ve gone to a lot more effort than you actually have. The chicken gets a quick coating and browning to give it that classic chicken Parmesan texture, then the slow cooker takes over while it finishes cooking in a rich tomato sauce.
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 24 ounces pasta sauce
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, plus a little extra if you like
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 pound spaghetti, cooked according to the package directions
For Serving:
- Chopped fresh parsley
- Fresh basil
Instructions:
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts with the salt and pepper.
- Set up three shallow bowls—one with the flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with the breadcrumbs mixed with the grated Parmesan.
- Coat each chicken breast in the flour, dip it into the egg, then press it into the breadcrumb mixture until it’s well coated.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the chicken for about 2 minutes per side, just until the coating is golden. It doesn’t need to be cooked through at this stage.
- In a bowl, stir together the pasta sauce, tomato sauce, garlic, and Italian seasoning.
- Spoon about half of the sauce into the bottom of the slow cooker. Arrange the chicken on top, then pour over the remaining sauce.
- Cover and cook on Low for 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- During the last 15 minutes, sprinkle the mozzarella over the top. Replace the lid and let the cheese melt.
- Serve over hot spaghetti with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and basil. Don’t forget to spoon plenty of that sauce over the pasta too.
