What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Vanilla! More specifically, it’s my Ninja Creami vanilla ice cream recipe. It’s such a wonderful staple and you can add so many different mix-ins so it never gets boring. I’ve added M&Ms, Cadbury’s Creme Eggs, Twix – you name it, it probably works!

Vanilla has a bit of a reputation for being boring, but this just isn’t true. It’s rich, creamy, and everything you could want from an ice cream. Geeky fact: vanilla is one of the world’s most complex and hard to cultivate ingredients, and it’s the second most expensive spice in the world (after saffron).

I love this quote from Alton Brown, and it sums up my thoughts on vanilla just perfectly!:

“Imagine a flower, a climbing orchid to be exact. The one of some 20,000 varieties that produces something edible. Now, imagine that its blooms must be pollinated either by hand or a small variety of Mexican bee and that each bloom only opens for 1 day a year. Now, imagine the fruit of this orchid, a pod, being picked and cured, sitting in the sun all day, sweating under blankets all night for months until shrunken and shriveled it develops a heady, exotic perfume and flavor. Now, imagine that this fruit’s name is synonymous with dull, boring and ordinary. How vanilla got this bad rap, I for one will never know.”

Is it worth buying the Ninja Creami?

You’ll just have to take a super quick browse around Scoop & Sprinkle to see that I absolutely love my Ninja Creami. I use it almost every single day, and I just love that I can create my own high quality ice creams at home. I have plenty of kitchen gadgets that I’ve barely ever used and were ultimately just a waste of money, but my Creami isn’t one of them. I do appreciate though that it’s a pretty sizeable investment, it takes up quite a lot of kitchen bench space, and it’s ultimately not for everyone. For that reason, I also share no-churn ice cream recipes, and plenty other dessert ideas.

Do you eat all the desserts that you make?

I definitely taste test everything you see here on the blog! It’s really important to me that I earn readers’ trust by only ever publishing recipes that I’m completely confident in. But there’s only so much ice cream and dessert that my immediate family and I can realistically eat, so I do give a lot of my creations away to friends and family. If you visit my house, it’s guaranteed that you’ll be leaving with a pint of homemade ice cream and a box of other treats!

Do you work with brands for sponsored posts or product reviews?

Sometimes, yes. Any sponsored content will be very clearly labelled as such, and I only ever work with brands that I personally use and believe in. If you’re representing a brand and you’d like to discuss sponsorship and collaboration opportunities, take a look at my Work With Me page – I’d love to discuss your ideas further and see if we could be a good fit for working together!

I’ve got a question about a specific recipe – can you help?

I’ll certainly try to! If you have a question about a recipe published here on Scoop & Sprinkle, the best thing to do is leave a comment on the post. I check these daily and try to respond swiftly wherever possible.

Can I use one of your recipes in a roundup?

Yes – and thank you so much for wanting to include my recipes on your own blog! You don’t need to write to me to ask for permission, and you’re welcome to use one photo, as long as you’re directly linking back to the post in question, and you’re not republishing the entire recipe and ingredients list yourself.
